Dependent Visas are for people who belong to the family, or children, of someone who is a permanent resident or a citizen of the UK. They are usually used by family members. ‘Sponsors’ are those who are permanent residents or nationals of the UK who are able to support the application.
If you are a dependent of the sponsor, you must be his or her spouse, or unmarried, or civil partner. The sponsor’s dependent children can join the sponsor in the UK if they are under 18 years old. Children who are dependents of an EEA national must be 21 years old before they can be considered dependents. Dependent visa holders will have freedom of movement and can live and work in the UK without restrictions. Dependent visa holders can work in any job, regardless of their skill level.
